Space Jam make flying start to the new season

LAST season’s Carling Premier Division champions, Space Jam Galaxy, got off to a flying start in the new season with an emphatic 10-0 win over Radyr.

Leading marksman Christophe­r Quick started off where he finished last season and he hit five of the Space Jam goals. Christophe­r Wosley (2), Stephen Bell (2) and Shane Rees were also on target.

Newly-promoted CSKA Sophia Gardens made an excellent start to life in the top tier with a 6-2 win over Plough Albion. CSKA’s goals were shared between Declan O’Neill, Aiden Martin, Jonathan McCarthy, Owen Jones, Richard Hamlett and Cai McKenzie. Rhys Oats netted both for the Plough.

Elsewhere, ThinkVans Cavaliers and the Greek Cypriot Associatio­n of Wales shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Benjamin Hartrey and Jordan Gammond netted for GCAW.

Real Caerdydd made it two wins out of two, with an 8-3 victory over Glamorgan Vikings in the Luxury Windows First Division. Kayjay Willimas led the way for Real with four goals, which was added to by Joseph Carmody, Christophe­r Manley, Jon Coles and Joshua Brown. The Vikings netted through David Tudor (2) and Kyle Westall.

Meanwhile, Michaelsto­ne Rangers sent John Davey Builders crashing 7-0. Jamie Edwards and Ben Cody hit two apiece, with Samuel Handley, Joshua Payne and Anders Roblin also on target.

In the other match in the division, Cardiff Depot beat Cogan by 6-2. Cogan’s goals came from Jasper Morgan and an own goal.

With experience­d Sunday League footballer­s in their squad, Trelai already look to be favourites for the Everson Trophies Second Division after an emphatic 12-1 win over Cyncoed Athletic.

James Cotterill hit a hat-trick, with Matthew Furnish and Matthew Williams weighing in with two goals apiece. Michael Stokes, Paul Loddo, Rhys Skinner, Scott Chappell and Matthew Johnson were also on target.

Elsewhere, the Golden Lion got off to a winning start with a 3-1 victory over Cardiff Dragons. Nathan O’Malia, Luke Crompton and Morgan Stephens scored for the Lions. David Ponting replied.

Newcomers to the league, Rumney Rams picked up their first point after a 2-2 draw with Cardiff Sunday. Kallum Lloyd netted a brace for the Rams.

In the other match in the division, Dynamo Caerdydd and Thornhill Thunder shared the spoils in a 4-4 draw. Peter Le Hegarat was the Dynamo hat-trick hero, with Thomas Schipper also on target.
