Warren left with burn after try

-

WALES rugby international Adam Warren was left with a grim facial skin burn after his try-scoring exploits for the Dragons on Saturday night.

Warren, who was capped by his country once in 2012, crossed the line in impressive fashion during the Dragons’ 29-13 defeat against Glasgow Warriors, latching on to a kick through to slide over the line.

The problem was he was playing on Glasgow’s artificial 3G surface, and the result is going to hurt for days to come.

Video footage taken after the game by team-mate Rynard Landman shows the full extent of the grass burn he suffered.

Such burns have become common place among rugby players who play on modern artificial surfaces, although incidents normally affect the legs and arms.

Pontypridd RFC were forced to replace their artificial pitch last year after seven Merthyr players suffered shocking burns following a Welsh Premiership match.

Glasgow’s pitch has come in for criticism in the past after Scarlets stars Steff Evans and Johnny McNicholl suffered burns following a game at Scotsoun last season.

The Welsh region were forced to cancel training the following Monday after players reported pus-oozing ailments.

Glasgow, Cardiff Blues and Saracens are among the top teams who play on artificial pitches.

It’s understood Warren will be available for Dragons selection for their match against the Blues at Rodney Parade this coming weekend despite his painful injury. Adam Warren
