TAKEAWAYS in Cardiff and Pontypridd have been named among the best in Wales.

Wiwo Noodle Bar on Woodville Road, Cathays, Cardiff, and Wok In A Box on Taff Street, Pontypridd, have been revealed as finalists in the 2018 British Takeaway Awards (BTAs).

The outlets have been named alongside two outlets in Swansea – Dragon Takeaway and Touchline Cafe – in the final of the Best Takeaway in Wales category.

Wiwo Noodle Bar, Cardiff, took home the award at last year’s ceremony and will be looking to hold on to the title again this year. It serves a range of noodles, vegetables and other ingredients.

Wok In A Box noodle bar offers a nutritious range of food cooked in front of you and served within minutes. It serves a range of noodles, rice, vegetables and more.

The BTAs, which are run in association with Just Eat, are all about celebrating and recognising the small and often family-run businesses that work tirelessly to serve the nation’s favourite takeaways.

The top four takeaways received the most public votes, and will now attend an awards ceremony on November 12 at The Savoy in London.

To determine the region’s winner, each of the finalists will now be marked on a mystery shop, and will provide a written submission on why they deserve to win.

A panel of judges, including restaurant industry innovator and businesswoman, former star of BBC2 Dragon’s Den Sarah Willingham and UK managing director of Just Eat Graham Corfield, will review the results and identify the 12 regional winners and the overall victor for Best Takeaway in Britain.

Mr Corfield said: “Making it to the list of the top takeaways in Wales is a great achievement as it means customers believe they are providing great food and excellent customer service. With competition at such a high, it’s going to be a difficult choice picking a worthy winner.”

In total, 16 awards will be presented. The Best Takeaway in each of the 12 regions and winners of the Judges’ Awards will receive £1,000 and free sign up to Just Eat, or their sign-up fee returned if they are already a partner.

One of the regional winners will then go on to be awarded Best Takeaway in Britain and receive a further cheque for £5,000.
