Police probe bridge fall
A 26-YEAR-OLD man who fell from a bridge over the M4 is in a critical condition in hospital.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident, which happened around 3am on Monday.
After appearing to fall from Cherry Orchard Road bridge – which runs over the M4 at Thornhill – he landed on a vehicle which was travelling on the M4.
The westbound carriageway of the M4 remained closed for more than two hours after the incident while police carried out investigation works.
A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: “A 26-year-old man appears to have fallen from the Cherry Orchard Road Bridge over the M4 motorway, near Cardiff.
“The male landed on a vehicle which was travelling along the westbound carriageway, between junction 30 at Cardiff Gate, and junction 32 at Coryton.
“As a result of this incident, the man sustained serious injuries, and is currently in a critical condition at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.”
The spokeswoman added: “South Wales Police would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding during this time.”
