■■Constanza Ladies Choir are in concert on Friday October 26 at 7.30pm at St Michael’s Church Whitchurch Rd Cathays CF14 3JL, featuring the music of George and Ira Gershwin, Rodgers and Hammerstei­n, Robert Maxwell, Ivor Novello and the Sherman Brothers and others. Admission at the door is £5. There will be a raffle and refreshmen­ts.

■■On Saturday October 27, Cardiff Wayfarers Rambling Club, affiliated to Holiday Fellowship, will be walking from Ely to Penarth, a diistance of nine miles. This ramble would suit inexperien­ced walkers as there are points along the way where there are frequent bus services back to Cardiff. The group will meet at 9.20a.m. by the 17/18 bus stop in Westgate Street, Cardiff. Newcomers will be welcome. Ray Jenkin, 029 2056 8625.

■■The coffee morning this month in St Paul’s Community Hall, Paget Street, Grangetown, Cardiff, will be on Saturday October 27, from 10.30am. This month it’s in aid of the Lucy Princess Trust. A variety of cakes will be on sale as well as coffee, tea and soft drinks.

■■The South East Wales Organists’ Associatio­n President’s Recital is being held in Llandaff Cathedral on Saturday October 27 at noon. The Associatio­n’s president, David Geoffrey Thomas, will play music by Ives, Bach, Jongen and Reubke. This is a public recital and all are welcome. Admission is free with a retiring collection.

■■It’s cabaret night on Saturday October 27 at the Earl Haig club, in Whitchurch village, next to the main car park. Doors open 7.30pm and entrance is £3. The club has a different singer every month with a raffle and bingo.

■■Friends of Hailey Park are carrying out conservati­on work on Sunday, October 28, and Sunday, November 11. Volunteer helpers meet at Radyr Road car park, 12.45pm-1pm. All welcome. Children must be accompanie­d by an adult. Free refreshmen­ts and tools. 07836 532 258.
