Lorraine ‘will do anything to help’

-

A “FANTASTIC” volunteer willing to give a hand to anything is the recipient of this week’s Bouquet of the Week.

Lorraine Jones, of Roath, Cardiff, has been thanked for her tireless work with community charity Roath Rocks.

Formed in 2012, Roath Rocks organises pop-up events to help good causes across the city.

It is now raising money to help St Andrew’s United Reformed Church from closure due to repair costs.

Charity organisers Wayne Courtney and Nathan Wyburn – known for his food art – have nominated Lorraine for her help with the group since its launch.

Wayne – himself an award-winning fundraiser – said: “Lorraine is absolutely fantastic. No matter what we are fundraising for, she will always help.

“She’s the kind of person you can’t do without, she will sell raffle tickets, organise events – anything that needs to be done.”

Lorraine, 63, said: “It’s just wonderful to give back to others. What’s five minutes out of your life to help? It’s nothing.

“If you can go out and help others, just go and do it.

She added: “Wayne and Nathan are amazing, they can’t do enough – they do so much to give to other people. “It’s a lovely community of people.” On December 11, Roath Rocks will see Cardiff’s finest drag queens team up to put on a special performance at St Andrew’s Church on Pen-Y-Lan Road.

The group are trying to raise £10,000 to fund repairs to the church, which is used by dozens of groups in the community.

Wayne said: “The church is a home to a lot of support groups and community groups including Cubs and Guides.

“Most of us aren’t religious but it’s there for the community so we are all rallying around it.”
