Gunter hits back after TV show gets shirty with him

-

BECOMING Wales’ mostcapped male footballer is a massive achievement.

And of course, if you were that player to break the record for winning the most Welsh caps, you’d probably want to keep a memento to remind you of that night.

The shirt you were wearing, perhaps.

However one TV show’s Twitter account has taken not one, but two little digs at Wales’ 93cap hero, Chris Gunter.

The former Bluebirds defender surpassed Neville Southall’s record of 92 caps when he took to the field in Wales’ clash with Albania and he’s arguably Wales’ most popular player.

But Soccer AM posted two videos to their Twitter page, showing Gunter after Wales’ friendly match being asked – and then refusing – to give his shirt away to a football fan.

In the tweet, the Sky Sports show said: “Looking to swap shirts with Chris Gunter? No chance.”

They then posted a second video, of the same night in Elbasan, where the 29-year-old Reading defender again appears to reject advances for his shirt.

Soccer AM tweeted the video, along with the words: “Chris Gunter just loves pieing people, this is the second one this week!”

But Newport-born Gunter wasn’t taking the accusations of “pieing” off fans lying down and had a perfectly valid reason for not wanting to give his shirt away.

He replied with the tweet: “Not ‘pieing’ anybody the shirt was being kept for my parents after a proud night.”

He added: “Feel free to find another video though and make it a hat-trick.”

Fans have subsequently made their feelings clear in defending the Wales star.
