■■ Roath Lo­cal His­tory So­ci­ety will be hold­ing its next meet­ing on Thurs­day, De­cem­ber 13, in the Church Hall of St An­drew’s United Re­formed Church, Peny­lan Road, Roath (bot­tom of Well­field Road). As­sem­bling for 7.45pm with com­pli­men­tary fes­tive good­ies in­clud­ing mince pies and a so­cial get-to­gether. The lec­ture will com­mence, af­ter an­nounce­ments, at 8pm and the speaker will be Dr Martin Wright who will take as his theme “Early Cardiff So­cial­ists“and he will be look­ing at the many colour­ful char­ac­ters in­volved with the so­cial­ist move­ment in the area. Vis­i­tors are wel­come and park­ing is avail­able di­ag­o­nally op­po­site the church. ■■One Voice Gospel Choir, led by Jacky Webbe, are host­ing their an­nual Christ­mas concert at the Ely Methodist Church (Cow­bridge Road West CF5 5BQ). It will start at 7pm on Sun­day, De­cem­ber 16, with free en­try along with a vol­un­tary re­tir­ing col­lec­tion, which will go to the work of the church. All are wel­come.
