■■Santa will be giving a talk for the grown-ups on Wednesday, December 12, at 7.30pm at Rhydypennau Library. Come along to find out many festive tales and secrets from the man in red. ■■ Roath Local History Society will be holding its next meeting on Thursday, December 13, in the Church Hall of St Andrew’s United Reformed Church, Penylan Road, Roath (bottom of Wellfield Road). Assembling for 7.45pm with complimentary festive goodies including mince pies and a social get-together. The lecture will commence, after announcements, at 8pm and the speaker will be Dr Martin Wright who will take as his theme “Early Cardiff Socialists“and he will be looking at the many colourful characters involved with the socialist movement in the area. ■■One Voice Gospel Choir, led by Jacky Webbe, are hosting their annual Christmas concert at the Ely Methodist Church (Cowbridge Road West CF5 5BQ). It will start at 7pm on Sunday, December 16, with free entry along with a voluntary retiring collection, which will go to the work of the church. All are welcome.
