Mark Drakeford on what he wants to do as Wales’ next First Minister

-

This really is the most grim news for Wales in many years.

I suppose in some ways it’ll suit pensioners who have their own funds who can have a quiet life, and people on benefits. With no solution to the M4 even actually being complete for 15-20 years and Drakeford’s targets being drinking water fountains and no smoking in town and city centres, there really is no hope. Business and growing the economy seem to be way down the list of his predictable socialist agenda.

As he finds out that the costs of his policies are unaffordable, he will of course have to put a couple of pence on income tax and use whatever other powers he has to get more money out of those who still choose to live here. SDLT is already at a stupid level.

He’ll strangle the golden geese of wealth generators at birth and those that can fly will be off to England, which would suit the Welsh language zealots who can remain in an ever increasing irrelevance called Wales. JoSoap

Rejoice, rejoice, all our troubles are over! Well, they would be if we had a referendum on abolishing the WAG, and all who sail in her. Hundreds of millions of pounds and 20 years on, and where has it got us? The worst health service in the UK, the worst education service in the UK, the worst railways in the UK, the worst roads in the UK, and crumbling infrastructure everywhere. And Labour’s priority and ambition? One million Welsh speakers by 2050. Brilliant plan. Fever

Another reason to not vote for Labour in Wales. This is the guy that took upon himself to try and ban e-cigs outright because he didn’t believe the scientific data. In the meantime the NHS burned down around him. ObviousTruth1

We probably haven’t heard the last of the e-cig matter either. I’m sure he will come back to it at some point. He is a zealot. A typical Labour control freak. They aren’t happy unless they are trying to control people’s lives and lifestyle choices. Wales is crying out for strong and visionary leadership. Won’t get it with this guy at the helm! KMJR4

Forget about the M4 relief road, he

was never in favour of it. His rambling on about legal issues and value for money said a lot. He will stifle any outside investment into Wales. Ford are already citing the M4 hold-ups along with the extra cost of moving the parts for engines and the complete engines in and out of Bridgend as an issue. No M4 relief will make their Dartford factory a lot more appealing for producing any new engines. I have not heard of any plans for Ford to produce electric engines in Bridgend. Other manufacturers such as LRJ, Nissan, Toyota are well advanced in their preparation for the complete ban on any new petrol and diesel cars that is coming into force within the next 20 years. No M4 relief road could spell the end of Bridgend Ford, the factory has been run down considerably in the past 10 years, even before Brexit. Chrisb2563

Wales deserves better than this guy. When are we going to get someone as FM with some forward thinking and vision. Same old Labour controlling finger-waggers. God help us with this puritan in charge. I despair. Wales is going backwards. KMJR4

I am about to buy another house and will be paying nearly £4,500 more in stamp duty than someone in England due to this clown changing the stamp duty rates under delegated powers. What a clown he has already proven to be. cardiffcity

Council tax is higher in Wales, too. When they start on the income tax it is going to become too expensive to live here. hensrule

Join us in England and get away from rampant socialism. The standard of living is far, far higher, there are jobs aplenty and by and large the people are great. There’s millions of Taffs here enjoying a far higher lifestyle. The only growth industry in Wales seems to be speed camera repair. Wholehogmog
