■ Splott Community Volunteers are holding a Santa’s Grotto at the Old Splott Library tomorrow, December 15, between noon and 3pm. Stalls and crafts, facepainti­ng, festive music and games, crafts, refreshmen­ts and mulled ‘wine’. There will be a raffle – lots of great prizes, including £100 Argos vouchers and a weekend break in Kiln Park – and, of course, the most important visit to Santa’s Grotto to receive a gift and sweets. £4 per child.

■■The South Wales Geologists Associatio­n lecture with Professor Sangeev Gupta from Imperial College is taking place tomorrow, December 15, at 11am. Prof Gupta will speak to us on the subject of “The adventures of Curiosity rover in Gale crater: exploring the geology of Mars”. The meeting is in the Wallace Building of Swansea University’s Singleton site (https://sewrigs.files.wordpress. com/2018/10/swanseauni­versity wallacebui­lding.png), and refreshmen­ts will be served from about 10.15am. ■ A concert entitled “Let the Music Speak” is being presented by the Cardiff Arms Park Male Choir on Saturday, January 19, at 7.30pm in aid of Alzheimer’s Society Cymru. ■■There will be no meeting of the Cardiff Diabetes UK Cymru Group in January 2019. The next meeting is on Wednesday, February 6, at 7.30pm in the Bethel Whitchurch Community Hall, Cardiff, CF14 2AA.
