More homes planned for old school site
THERE are plans to build more than 100 houses on the site of a former school in Rhondda Cynon Taff.
An application has been submitted to the council for 120 homes on the former Blaengwawr Comprehensive School site on Club Street in Aberaman.
The site of the former school and playing fields is located in the north west of Aberaman, around one mile south of Aberdare town centre and close to the A4059.
The old school building has been demolished and the land has been sold and deemed suitable for residential use.
The design and access statement prepared by Hammond Architectural Limited on behalf of Davies Homes, says that it is a sensitive development which responds to the surrounding built environment and the site’s topography.
It also says that it is “an attractive development” which will protect and enhance the landscape and ecology within the site and that it is a safe development.
The statement says it is a suitable scale of development that can be integrated within its setting and accommodated within the existing highway network.
