PRICE falls abroad will help your holiday budget stretch further, according to Post Office Travel Money’s annual holiday report.

Bulgaria, Turkey and the Algarve are rated best value among 42 destinatio­ns, while South Africa’s Cape Town overtakes Japan as the cheapest long-haul option.

Prices fell by up to 21% in almost half of resorts and cities surveyed for the Worldwide Holiday Costs Barometer which compares resort prices by looking at typical costs for items like a coffee, local beer, glass of wine and three course evening meal for two.

Sunny Beach in Bulgaria was best value with a ‘basket’ total of £36.03, while the most expensive surveyed was Mahe in the Seychelles at £182.89.
