The Welsh MPs and AMs who employ members of their own families

-

Pigs, snouts and trough are too polite words to use for this practice. Windway

What they’re doing isn’t illegal, but it does help explain why the public have such a low opinion of politicians. AberdareBoy

This practice of employing family members should be made illegal. No ifs or buts, it has to stop. walesdad

Shopkeepers do it all the time so how do you make it illegal? HarlequinsPorth9

Shopkeepers don’t do it at the public’s expense, not in the way this lot fleece Joe Public! Hudlin

They should also investigate how many AMs local to Cardiff, have second homes financed by us. If you or I lived in Cowbridge or Cwmbran and worked in the city, we’d be expected to commute (and would think nothing of it). But because the WAG is basically just a “me too” money laundering operation, trying to look like the government at Westminster, this sort of lunacy is allowed. MrLyons And they wonder why the public don’t trust them! Dai717

“A Labour Group spokesman said that Labour AMs who employed family members “had no involvement in shortlisting or interviewing”. The spokesman said: “The Assembly’s arrangements for the employment of AM support staff, which currently allows for the inclusion of family members, is robust, transparent and run independently.”

So it’s all just a happy coincidence

when a family member turns out to be the best person for the job. Nowhere else would nepotism on this scale be tolerated. IantoFullPelt

The Welsh Assembly is too expensive, we need to get rid of it, it’s just jobs for the boys and a gravy train for their family members. zog

It’s been going on for years, British politicians at Westminster are infamous for this. BrianGWilliams
