I will always be a Bluebird... Victor says his farewells

VICTOR Camarasa has bid an emotional farewell to Cardiff City fans as he prepares to return to parent club Real Betis this summer.

The midfielder has been a huge hit with fans since arriving on loan last summer, emerging as one of City’s brighter performers this season with a series of impressive performances.

The Spaniard was kept out of the Bluebirds’ incredible win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on the final day with a dead leg, and relegation meant a permanent stay in South Wales was always unlikely.

Camarasa’s future now looks uncertain, with his sparkling showings for Cardiff allegedly attracting interest from Tottenham and West Ham, although for now, he is once again a Betis player.

But, in a touching message to fans, he insists he “will always be a Bluebird”, before thanking the club’s hierarchy, Neil Warnock and, of course, the club’s passionate fans.

He wrote: “The last 10 months have been incredible.

“When I came to Cardiff last August, I couldn’t imagine what it would mean to be part of this great team. Now it’s time to say goodbye and I can only say thank you.

“Thanks to all the incredible fans of Cardiff, for their warm welcome and support at all times.

“My girlfriend Carla and I will always remember this special city with affection.

“Thanks to Mehmet Dalman and Ken Choo for believing in me.

“Thanks to all the players, the management and the administrative staff for their help and support.

“A special thanks goes to Neil Warnock for all that I have learned under your leadership.

“I started with the utmost enthusiasm and, together with the entire team, I did everything I could on the pitch in each game.

“Unfortunately, the results have not been as we expected.

“I am sure that Cardiff City will return to the Premier League much stronger.

“All the best Bluebirds! I will always be a Bluebird”.

Camarasa leaves having made 33 appearances for the club, scoring five goals.
