- ■■ The recycled paper content of UK newspapers in 2016 was 62.8%

■■Cabaret night is on at the Earl Haig Club in Whitchurch on Saturday, May 18. There will be live music, dancing and some bingo and a raffle. Doors open at 7.30pm, entry is £3.

■■At St John’s Church, Canton, on Saturday, May 18, from 10.30am, the Mothers’ Union will be holding a coffee morning with cakes, bric-abrac stalls and a raffle. Admission charge is £1 with proceeds to go towards a holiday caravan in Porthcawl. All are welcome.

■■Conway Road Methodist Church, Canton, is holding its annual Spring Fayre on Saturday, May 18, 11am-1pm. Cakes, plants, collectabl­es, bric-a-brac, books and CDs, gifts and jewellery, toys and nearly new clothes. There will be a raffle and lunchtime refreshmen­ts. Entrance is £1 for adults and children free. All proceeds for church funds to maintain this historic building, 150 years old this year.

■■A community litter pick and clean-up is taking place at Fairwater Park known as the Dell on Saturday, May 18, at 10am. Meet at the ski centre. Anyone welcome to attend. Contact Lisa Ford on 07891 518426.

■■Pentyrch Art Group are holding their 24th annual exhibition at Pentyrch village hall on Sunday, May 19. Open from 10am until 6pm, with free admission, free refreshmen­ts, free parking and good disabled access. There will be more than 200 paintings on display, in various mediums. Members also produce lovely cards at reasonable prices.

■■A community table top sale takes place at St Faith Church, Morris Avenue, on Saturday, May 25, 10.30am-noon. A variety of stalls. Refreshmen­ts available. Tel: 20620838 for further informatio­n.

■■ Every Tuesday afternoon in term time there is pram and pushchair for mums, pre-school toddlers and babies. Play, chat and a cuppa at Albany Road Baptist Church Hall, Blenheim Road, Penylan, 1.30pm-3pm.
