‘Bringing our girl home was the best feeling ever’
n Baby name: Kara Jones. n Date and place of birth: Kara was born on February 15 at the University Hospital of Wales. n Weight: 8lb, 1oz. n Parents: Lucy Jones, 32, a counsellor, and dad, Dan Jones, 33, call centre manager. Both from Barry.
Mum’s story:
Lucy said: “At the beginning, it was strange as I didn’t really have morning sickess. However, I did have midafternoon sickness and lots of it.
“Cravings wise, all I desired was marmite and custard – together. Which even now I still quite like the
ntaste of. We asked our parents to keep the sex of the child a secret, which both sets did us proud.
“As a present for the baby they pooled in together to equip our spare room as a nursey/baby room. Colourwise everything is pretty neutral – being green, red and white – our favourite colours.
“The moment that I became anxious and nervous was when I went into labour.
“I had this enormous wave of panic come over me all of a sudden.
“After utilising the techniques we learned at the antenatal classes, I was
OK until the contractions started.
“The birth itself was long, but not compared to others.
“Kara and I stayed in the hospital for two days, and the relief of bringing our daughter home for the first time was overwhelming.
“As Dan and I walked through the door with our amazing daughter I had to have a sit down and cry.
“The emotions that I experienced that day were amazing. If I was able to bottle it, I would.
“Having Kara in our lives has changed our lives forever and I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
