STARK TOWER MAY HAVE BEEN BLOWN UP IN THE MOVIES, BUT THE AVENGERS HAVE SOMEWHERE NEW TO ASSEMBLE, WRITES PAUL COLE

-

DISNEYLAND Paris is transforming its Hotel New York into a den fit for supermen, women and children

– and you never know who you might bump into.

The hotel, long one of the park’s staples, is being filled with Marvel artwork and heaps more surprises.

Renamed Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel, it will boast heroic rooms and suites, superhero encounters and photo opportunities.

Fancy wielding Thor’s mighty hammer, Mjolnir? Well, you can here!

Meanwhile, kids can have a go at drawing their favourite heroes at the Marvel Design Studio which will run a series of workshops.

All of the rooms at the hotel will feature Marvel artwork and subtle tributes to the heroes. Empire State Club rooms will, for example, feature a nod to Iron Man.

Disneyland Paris is working with more than 50 artists from Marvel Comics and Marvel Studios so they can bring more than 300 pieces of artwork to the hotel.

Think comic book covers, posters, illustrations from films, storyboards, original sketches and even neverbefore-seen and exclusive pieces.

The idea is that the hotel will channel a New York art gallery, celebrating 80 years of Marvel thanks to the contemporary style.

There will be plenty of themed restaurants too. There’s the Manhattan Restaurant, which will feature a chandelier inspired by Thor’s Asgardian Palace, Downtown Restaurant which will serve up Marvel-themed specialities, a Skyline Bar with breathtaking ‘views’ of the New York Skyline, and the Lounge Bar for those looking for a range of organic products.

Other highlights include a Metro Pool – an indoor and outdoor pool complex with a hot tub, sauna and Turkish Bath – and a Metro Health Club, as well as a New York Boutique where you can pick up heaps of Marvel collectibles.

The hotel is expected to open in summer 2020, but Disneyland Paris has revealed it will open for bookings on Tuesday November 5.

Of course, it’s not the only new Marvel offering coming to the theme park – it’s also set to welcome a new Avengers Campus where budding superheroes will get a chance to hone their skills and learn from the heroes themselves.

There’ll be meet and greets with the likes of Iron Man and Black Widow, and even a themed restaurant.

But what’s particularly exciting about the new Marvel offering is that it will bring a brand new, Spider-Man themed ride too.

You’ll be joining your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man on a mission as you learn to sling webs just like the hero, and get a taste of what it’s like to have his superpowers.

If all that excitement gets too much then you’ll want to head to the Pym Test Kitchen where Pym Tech Technologies is using the latest innovations to grow and shrink food.

Oh, and as you wander through the campus, keep an eye out for heroes including Black Widow, Ant-Man and The Wasp, Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, Thor and Iron Man.

Meanwhile, the Marvel Super Heroes Season returns from March 24 to June 7 next year, with shows and experiences featuring Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Captain Marvel and more fan favourites.
