Welsh legend kicks off the Big Breakfast season for Prostate Cymru
RUGBY legend Sir Gareth Edwards CBE is supporting The Big Breakfast for Prostate Cymru.
Sir Gareth teamed up with renowned Welsh actor Steve Speirs, best known for his roles in Star Wars and Stella, to launch the event this year with a special breakfast on the pitch at Kenfig Hill RFC in Bridgend.
Gareth and Steve, who are both ambassadors for the charity, enjoyed a Big Breakfast in the sunshine and encourage everyone to get involved with a Big Breakfast event this November for Prostate Cymru.
The Big Breakfast is a fun, social event that can be held on any day in November.
Whether you are a cereal lover or enjoy a full cooked breakfast, there are several ways to get involved and raise money.
The Big Breakfast can be held at home with friends and family sharing the most important meal of the day, in your workplace’s canteen or boardroom, or in the heart of your community in a sports club, village hall or local pub. The Big Breakfast is an easy, accessible event that you can make unique to you!
Sir Gareth said: “I hope as many people as possible get involved and have a Big Breakfast for Prostate Cymru this November. It is a fun event that you can enjoy with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours, all for a very worthy charity.”
The Big Breakfast returns for its third year to raise awareness and funds for Prostate Cymru, the leading prostate health charity in Wales supporting men in Wales with prostate issues such as benign prostate disease and prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Welsh men, affecting a staggering one in three men with a family history.
The funds raised by The Big Breakfast support Prostate Cymru’s key aims which include raising awareness across Wales, supporting training and improving equipment, research and innovation, and supporting the education of medical professionals and students through a range of learning resources and opportunities.
All those that host a Big Breakfast will receive a starter breakfast pack when they register, including posters, Big Breakfast napkins and other giveaways for the day.
A JustGiving page can be created by the charity’s team which can be used on social media channels to promote the event and help raise sponsorship monies.
