MY NAME IS IAN

-

Introduce us to My Name Is Ian – who is in the band?

In the band are Reginald Foxwell, James Buzzanca and Joe Coleby. How did you get together?

We were house mates with a spare room and half a drum kit.

How would you describe your music to the uninitiated?

We play Welsh ambient hip hop. What is your earliest musical memory?

My parents had three cassettes in the car. The cassettes came free with a box of Weetabix and they were the best of the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s.

What made you want to pick up an instrument and play?

I wasn’t any good at sport.

What was the first record you bought?

The first single I bought was Baby Come Back by Pato Banton. I bought it at Acorn Records in Yeovil.

What was the first gig you attended?

I’m not sure what my first gig was but it was maybe Leftover Crack or Lightyear.

What’s the best gig/s you’ve been to?

The best gig I have ever seen is any Burning Hell show.

What’s the best gig you’ve played?

Any show at the Andrew Buchan (because it’s the best pub in Wales) also our album launch at Clwb last year was really great.

Who would be your dream artiste to work with?

We would really like to work with Booka Shade and Hot Chip. What’s for the future?

We have a new album out October 26 and a free headline show at the Andrew Buchan the same day. We go to Italy in the new year to record our 2020 album and we are raising money to fund a tour of Canada at the end of next year.
