■■Cardiff Canton Salvation Army 140th anniversary celebration concert is taking place at Canton Corp on Cowbridge Road, Saturday, October 19, at 7pm. With special guests the Salvation Army Household Troops Band. Tickets are £5 on the door and everyone is welcome.
■■The next meeting of the Bridgend branch of the Glamorgan family History Society is on Monday, October 21, at The Len Evans Centre, off Heol Persondy, Aberkenfig CF32 9RF. Speaker will be Mr Dean Powell on “Land of my Father’s”. Doors open 7pm, talk to start 7.30pm with refreshments available. All old and new members welcome as are all members of the public.
■■St Philip Evans Union of Catholic Mothers are holding a coffee morning on Tuesday, October 22, 10am until noon, at St Philip Evans Church Hall, Llanedeyrn Drive, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff CF23. Tickets £2.50 or pay at the door. Event to include tombola, cakes, Christmas gifts and nearly new stall. Everyone welcome.
■■An art and craft fair (with a hint of Christmas) is to be held on Saturday, October 26, at Roath Church House, Waterloo Road, Roath CF23 5AD, from 2pm to 4pm. Original paintings, ceramics, jewellery and much more will be available for a unique present. Tea and cakes available. Entry is free.
■■A craft club takes place at Taffs Well Village Hall, every Thursday, 7pm-9pm. Learn how to crochet, knit, make mosaic and embroidery pictures, learn easy knitting with a loom and how to make dried flower cards. Entry £2.50, which includes refreshments. Fund go towards maintenance of the hall.
