THE WORLD’S MOST SCENIC RAILWAY JOURNEYS BEST OF THE REST

-

Channel 5, 8pm

WE ALL need a bit of an escape every now and again, a chance to watch the world go by and marvel at some of the incredible scenery our little planet has to offer.

So it’s all aboard for this new series, as we sit back and look out through the window of a railway carriage on six truly unforgettable train rides. These epic journeys cut through some of the most stunning landscapes and awe-inspiring natural beauty on Earth.

There’s everything from snow-covered mountains to lush green forests, and swirling harbour seas to fairy tale castles. Come rain, shine, snow, or even wild animals on the line (but not leaves), nothing can stop these trains from rolling their way across Europe, Scandinavia, New Zealand.

This first episode follows the Rocky Mountaineer train in Canada, a jawdropping route that encompasses crystal-clear lakes, lush rainforest, vast canyons and national parks.

HARRY HILL’S CLUBNITE Channel 4, 11.05pm

WE COULD watch Harry Hill read out the phone book and be perfectly happy.

Which is a good job, as his shows tend to be loosely-formatted to say the least, and that could well end up being a weekly segment.

He’s back on Channel 4, where the big-collared comedian’s career first started many moons ago, with this fab new late night slot. It’s an hour of Harry doing what he does best – being funny, and making other people do ridiculously daft and hilarious stuff.

It’s also a chance for him to champion some of his favourite comedians – both well-established acts and those up and comers too. We can expect his own take on a chat show interview, plenty of those funny folks doing their own turns, a dollop of audience participation, plus comedy sketches, games and general madness and mayhem.

Tonight’s guests include Bridget Christie, Spencer Jones and Rosie Jones.
