■■Celebrate Christmas with an evening of entertainm­ent from the talented cast of Star Factor, a stage school for adults with learning difficulti­es. The event takes place today, December 10, at 7pm at Duffy’s – Pontypridd Ex-Servicemen’s Club, Woodland Terrace, Pontypridd CF37 1DZ. ■■RNLI Penarth presents a Lifeboat Service of Nine Lessons and Carols with the Cavatina singers at St Augustine’s Church, Penarth, on Wednesday, December 11, 6.30pm for 7pm. Coffee and mince pies.

■■Splott Community Volunteers will be holding their annual Santa’s Grotto on Saturday, December 14, between 3pm and 6pm, at the Old Splott Library, CF24 2ET, where children can meet Santa and receive a gift. Featuring Mr T.Ricks Magic Show, Willows Choir, festive music, stalls and crafts, facepainti­ng, raffle and refreshmen­ts. Entry £4 per child.

■■Whitchurch Library will be holding carol singing on Saturday, December 21, at 4pm, accompanie­d by the band M10. Non-alcoholic mulled wine and mince pies will be served and the collection will be in aid of the Parkinson Society. The event is arranged by Awen, the Library Friends Group, and will be indoors if it is wet.

■■Country Mind is a country music showcase bringing together three voices for one night of live music in aid of Mind. Taking to the stage at Acapela, Pentyrch (029 2089 0862) on March 29 will be Norwegian-born, London-based singer/songwriter and actress Liv Austen, homegrown Welsh talent Eleri Angharad and rising Essex singer/songwriter Louise Parker.
