BEST OF THE REST
THE GRAHAM NORTON SHOW: NEW YEAR’S EVE SHOW BBC1 10.20pm
IT’S a feel-good Hogmanay show with Graham, as one of the nicest men in Hollywood is safely ensconced on the sofa – yep, the one and only Tom Hanks.
He’ll be bringing even more heartwarming joy than usual, as he’s talking about his new film A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood, where he plays American kids TV host Mr Rogers.
The double Oscar winner is joined by his co-star, Welsh actor Matthew Rhys.
Our favourite new Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse is also on the sofa, alongside rising star Florence Pugh, and Liverpudlian screen hardman Stephen Graham.
Boxing champ Anthony Joshua completes the very packed line-up, with former Spice Girl Melanie C providing the music.
JOOLS’ ANNUAL HOOTENANNY BBC2 11.15pm
THIS Hogmanay Hootenanny is so much part of the New Year’s Eve tradition, it’s hard to imagine BBC2 without it.
The stars joining Jools Holland in the studio this year include the allconquering Stormzy, delivering a slightly more intimate set than his Glastonbury headline slot, with songs from new album Heavy Is The Head, and the sublime Rick Astley, performing a big band version of his pop classic and a Temptations favourite.
Other acts include The Stereophonics, Eddi Reader, YolanDa Brown, Pauline Black and Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson, Ruby Turner, and La Roux.
Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard joins Jools’ Rhythm and Blues orchestra for a Jackie Wilson classic, while Tom Walker performs one of his number one hits.
