CARDIFF UNIVERSITY ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR EYES
The university’s optometrists offer free eye examinations and contact lens appointments*
Cardiff University is encouraging people to look after their eyes, offering some fantastic glasses and a wide range of contact lenses at its on-site optometrist clinic.
If you visit the on-site student clinic, you can receive a free sight test and 20 per cent off your spectacles.
You can also get free contact lens appointments in the student clinic every Monday and Thursday afternoon, during term time (October to March).
RANGE OF EYE CARE OPTIONS
Open to all - student, staff or member of the public - the university’s optometrists work to uphold the highest standards of clinical excellence and provide access to care for all users regardless of circumstances or means.
Emma Daniel-Davies, student clinic manager, says, “Some patients think our final year student clinics are just
open to students, but anyone and everyone are very welcome.”
The university’s final year optometry students work under the close supervision of a qualified optometrist at the clinic to ensure that patients receive the highest standard of care.
The clinic benefits from a video slitlamp and camera unit to keep careful records of your ocular health, and recommend the best course of action for you.
The clinic has a range of special lenses available to meet your needs, including anti-reflection lenses, scratch resistant coatings, high index lenses to make your spectacles thinner and lighter, as well as ultraviolet inhibitors and photochromic lenses.
If you opt to try contact lenses for the first time, be completely assured that help and advice is always on hand, as well as a wide selection of contact
lenses and care regimens available to choose from.
Prices for contact lenses vary according to the contact lens type prescribed. NHS vouchers are accepted towards the payment of contact lenses and glasses.
So, whether you’re trying out contact lenses or having your existing
lenses checked and changed, the university’s on-site clinic is the perfect place to go - and is free of charge.*
