A neuro high care nurse normally, but as part of the critical care directorate, beds in her unit will become ventilated ITU beds

Currently things are quite calm and quiet on the patient front as there are no elective admissions, but we know this is the calm before the storm.

Everyone is stressed and anxious. I have isolated myself from my family as much as I can. My husband and I are sleeping in separate rooms.

It’s impossible to feel properly safeguarded against coronavirus. All we can hope for is that there’s enough PPE for staff for when we know we’re dealing with positive patients.

I live in Maesteg and shopping has been OK – none of the hysteria we’ve seen in some places. I’ve been able to get all the toilet paper I need.

I was tagged into the original post about Nathan’s artwork and thought, why not? These are unprecedented times and it would be nice to be part of an artwork to commemorate it. I think the Trust should have it as a permanent feature within the hospital. I thought it was fantastic.

I sincerely hope the appreciation of the NHS continues long after Covid-19 has gone. For too long we’ve been underpaid and overworked but carried on because our priority is patient care and safety.

Something BIG needs to happen in the NHS now to recognise the commitment of its staff and our willingness to put our lives on the line for the benefit of others.

It’s heartwarming to see people out on the streets applauding you. My fears right now are dying, but I hope a better NHS will come from all of this. And that people appreciate what and who really matter.

I wonder how bad Boris Johnson is now feeling, that his party has decimated the NHS to the extent we are having to deploy not-yet-qualified doctors and nurses onto the frontline? Will he make amends for it when all this is over?
