‘Loved and cherished’ man, 18, died in crash
THE family of a young man from Cardiff who died in a car crash has paid an emotional tribute to him.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed an 18-year-old man died following a serious crash on the M4 on April 7.
According to Somerset Live, a teenager was driving a BMW on the busy route in Wiltshire when the vehicle collided with a barrier.
Mohammed Hashim, from Cardiff, died following the crash.
In a tribute paid to him via a fundraising page set up in his memory, his brother said he was a much-loved son, brother, uncle and friend who was described as “an inspiration to us all.”
The tribute read: “Taken away from us so abruptly, we say Alhamdulilah (praise be to God) for all the good times we were fortunate enough to share with him in the short 18 years we shared with him.
“A day with Mohammed was enough to make you fall in love with him over and over again.
“His energy and his smile was infectious and could light up any room.
“His presence was one felt by us all and anyone who was fortunate enough to meet him can vouch for this.
“He had great potential in this world which was snatched away from him, but surely Allah is the best of planners and this was his time.
“He was greatly loved and cherished by us all and he will continue to live amongst us and we will honour him in everything we do.”
In a family statement, his brother said Tuesday, April 7, was a “dark day” for all who knew him.
The family confirmed he involved in a motorway accident.
The statement continued: “Mohammed is my younger brother, my baby, my love.
“I watched him grow into from a baby into a young man, I even teased him about how I changed his nappy, fed him and showered him with all my love.
“My baby brother for life.
“You might have been younger than was me, but you still stood up for me, protected me and took care of me.
“I will never stop speaking your name, my mind will never stop thinking about you.
“You are my world and I will miss you but I pray that we meet again in paradise.
“May Allah give you the highest ranks of Jannah.”
The family hoped to raise £2,600 to enable a community well to be built in Mohammed’s name. In very little time it has already passed the £3,000 mark.
