I’LL SHOW THEM WHO’S BOSS

PICK OF THE DAY JOE LYCETT’S GOT YOUR BACK Channel 4, 8pm

COMEDIAN Joe Lycett may have officially changed his name to Hugo Boss – more on that later – but his TV show’s title so far remains true to the moniker his mother gave him.

This is the return of Joe’s consumer justice show that sees him fight the good fight on behalf of the British public.

Initially spawned from his famously funny complaint letters, the series sees

Joe score victories for consumers as he takes on dodgy companies and settles scores.

And the serious stuff aside, it is also just very funny.

“Sit back, relax and have a laugh,” says Joe. “When the world is more crazy than ever, it’s nice that we’ve all got each other’s backs.”

In this first episode, he has help from his regular assistant Mark Silcox as well as celebrity guest, comedian Katherine Ryan.

Fashion’s filthiest secrets are unwrapped and he takes on the curious case of the world’s smallest cake.

But it’s worth tuning in just to find out the full story behind Joe’s infamous name change. It all started when independent beer company Boss Brewing received a cease and desist order from fashion giant Hugo Boss to stop using its name.

To make a point, Joe announced: “Because Hugo Boss hates people using their name, I’m changing my name to Hugo Boss.”

Cue much hilarity as he calls everyone with the news, from his bank to his mum. “Could you ask Dad if he’ll change his name to Tommy Hilfiger?”

Brilliant comedy from the artist formerly known as Joe Lycett.
