X-MEN GO LARGE

THE ambitious relaunch of the X-Men series continues with this supersized one-shot.

With Nightcrawler taking the lead, a special detachment of X-Men is dispatched to the ruins of the X-Mansion when an active mutant signature is detected. But they get more than they bargained for, encountering literal ghosts.

Written by Jonathan Hickman, with glorious artwork by Alan Davis, Giant Size X-Men: Nightcrawler #1 is out now priced £4.50.

BLOCKBUSTERS ON HOLD

STUDIOS are clambering to push back their big movie releases as the coronavirus pandemic continues to bite.

Maverick, Ghostbuster: Afterlife, Peter Rabbit 2, and The Rise of Gru have all seen their releases pushed back to later this year, or early next.

Peter Rabbit 2 will be seen in January 2021, and those anticipating Tom Cruise’s return as Maverick, will have to wait until December in the states – which could mean next January for UK audiences.

And Ghostbuster: Afterlife, which was due on July 10, now hits screen next March 5.

GAME OVER – FOR THE TIME BEING

SONY has announced The Last of Us Part II will be delayed indefinitely.

The PlayStation exclusive is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year, but Sony said that: “Logistically, the global crisis is preventing us from providing the launch experience our players deserve.”

Developer Naughty Dog released its own statement saying: “We want to make sure everyone gets to play The Last of Us Part II around the same time, ensuring that we’re doing everything possible to preserve the best experience for everyone.”

Just like the box office, the delay of The Last of Us could see other big titles delayed while the Covid-19 continues to disrupt not just sales and manufacturing, but the development process itself.
