A TEENAGER was taken to a police station by his dad and step-mum and made to confess to raping a young woman who had never reported the crime.

Jack Evans, 18, has been locked up for two years after admitting the rape.

Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court heard that his dad had found a message on his son’s phone in which the youngster had apologised to the girl and admitted what he had done was wrong.

His victim was later traced by police and told them she was paid by Evans.

The court heard Evans would have avoided justice but for his father and stepmother telling him to confess.

Takeaway restaurant worker Evans persuaded the woman to have sex with him in January last year but she changed her mind at the last minute, the court heard.

Prosecutor Claire Pickthall said: “He carried on anyway despite her telling him to stop and trying to push him off.

“She didn’t make a complaint but two months later Evans and his stepmother turned up at a police station to say what had happened.”

The victim, who was a virgin, said she was left feeling “worthless” and unable to trust men again.

Gareth Williams, defending, asked for a suspended sentence because of the “exceptional circumstances.”

He said: “It is extremely rare for anyone to admit to such a serious offence without there being a complaint.”

But Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke said there were aggravating features and Evans had to be locked up.

She told him: “Two months after the rape you apologised to your victim and said you understood why she was upset.

She added that the text came to the attention of Evans’ dad, and he was taken to a police station.

She said: “You told an officer your name and said you’d has sex with the young woman.”

Evans, of Pontypool, was 17 at the time of the rape but became an adult before he was charged with raping the woman.

He was sent to a Young Offender Institution for two years after being given discount for his age and his guilty plea.

He was ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years.

Evans mouthed “I Love you” to his tearful mother Deniz Stewart as he was led to the cells.

His father Jonathan Evans, 47, and stepmother Sarah Morris, 47, waited outside the court because of social distances rules.

Software engineer Mr Evans said after the case: “I wanted him to tell the truth, he had to do the right thing and admit his guilt.

“It’s been difficult for all of us and it’s caused quite a few arguments.”
