Five arrested after seaside mass brawl
FIVE men have been arrested after a mass brawl at a Welsh beauty spot during lockdown.
Police have confirmed that the five are aged between 19 and 25 and are from Porth, Ferndale, Tonypandy, Tonyrefail and Bridgend after the disturbance at Ogmore-by-Sea.
They have been released under investigation.
A sixth man, 24, also from Tonyrefail, has also been released under investigation after voluntarily attending a police station.
Police were called to the Welsh coastal village after fighting broke out during large-scale disorder.
Groups of people had descended on the area throughout the afternoon and evening of June 25.
Detectives are still appealing for information on individuals involved.
Chief Inspector for the Vale of Glamorgan, Anthony Williams, said: “We appreciate the coronavirus lockdown measures have been difficult for our communities, but the kind of behaviour seen recently at Ogmore-by-Sea and other coastal areas is simply unacceptable.
“Antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated at any time – regardless of whether we are in the midst of a pandemic or not – and we will continue to work closely with partners to ensure those wanting to enjoy our beaches and parks within the confines of the law can do so safely”.
Police said the investigation continues and asked anyone with information to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting occurrence number 2000225710.
