A MAN “forced himself” on a “helpless” sleeping woman and kissed her before stripping off her trousers and underwear and sexually assaulting her.

Eduard Tkacik-Kaco took advantage of the “extremely vulnerable” woman who a court heard was “completely intoxicated” after drinking heavily.

Cardiff Crown Court heard on Friday that the incident happened in the Cardiff area earlier this year.

Ieuan Bennett, prosecuting, said the victim “vaguely remembers” the incident, where 62-year-old Tkacik-Kaco “forced himself upon her, kissing her on the mouth”.

He then removed her trousers and underwear before sexually assaulting her.

In a victim impact statement the woman said: “I feel angry, upset, and embarrassed by it all. If I saw him, I would be scared.”

The court heard he initially pleaded not guilty at a previous hearing on October 9 but shortly after changed his plea to guilty on a single count of sexual assault.

Tkacik-Kaco, born in the Czech Republic, has a long list of almost 30 convictions for a variety of offences both in the UK and in his home country.

The defendant, of the Huggard Centre, Cardiff, was handed an 18-month prison sentence by Recorder Greg Bull QC.

Recorder Bull said: “You tried to kiss her but by reason of the drink she fell asleep.

“You took advantage of her when she was helpless and asleep.”

Tkacik-Kaco was also made the subject of a restraining order and will be on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

He will serve half his sentence in custody before being released on licence.
