No deaths with Covid recorded

THERE were no new coronaviru­s deaths reported in Wales on Wednesday.

Only 82 new cases were reported by Public Health Wales yesterday, meaning Wales has now seen a total of 210,023 cases since the pandemic began.

There were no new coronaviru­s deaths to report, with the total of lab-confirmed coronaviru­s deaths standing at 5,521.

The infection rate across Wales has also fallen once again and now stands at 22 cases per 100,000 people for the seven days leading up to April 2, a drop from 24.8 on Tuesday.

All of Wales’ local authoritie­s are now reporting fewer than 50 cases per 100,000 people for the seven days up to April 2. Meanwhile the percentage of tests coming back with positive results is now 2.2%.

The latest figures show 1,502,641 people have received the first dose of a vaccine and 475,570 people have had both.

Cardiff reported the most cases yesterday with 13, followed by Swansea with 11. Gwynedd reported six and Rhondda Cynon Taf five. Caerphilly, Anglesey and Denbigshir­e reported four and Blaenau Gwent, Conwy, Vale of Glamorgan, Carmarthen­shire, Pembrokesh­ire and Neath Port Talbot reported three. Newport and Flintshire reported two.
