Rotarians in appeal for warm winter coats

-

A NEW campaign called Wrap Up Cardiff has been launched by members of Rotary Clubs in Cardiff.

Wrap Up Cardiff needs warm, clean winter coats for all ages. Waterproof coats are a bonus.

Rotary spokesman Maggie Hughes said: “Wrap Up Cardiff is a campaign run by Rotary Clubs in Cardiff in partnership with the registered charity Hands On London.

“The central idea of Wrap Up is simple: there are many people in dire need of warm clothing in winter, and others who have warm coats in good condition which they want to give away.

“Thick warm winter coats (including gilets, fleeces and anoraks) donated to Wrap Up are being collected by Rotary volunteers.

“Each garment is inspected to ensure it is clean and in a good condition to be given away.

“Our corporate partners are Safestore, who donate free space to allow Rotarians to store, sort and distribute the coats.

“So, if you have a thick warm winter coat you no longer need, please donate it to our Wrap Up campaign by taking it to the collection point at our local Safestore at 356 Newport Road, Cardiff CF23 9AE before November 28 or to get in touch for more information about the project use the website link at https://wrapupuk.org/Cardiff/

During lockdown, thousands of people have been volunteering in their communities.

Many members say they join the Rotary movement because it gives them a chance to give something back to their community.

Locally, each club alone raises tens of thousands of pounds for community projects and local charities, often more.

Rotary is one of the world’s leading membership and humanitarian service organisations, with 1.2 million members globally.
