Morison ‘Blue wall’ Cardiff dream

-

CARDIFF manager Steve Morison was inspired by the tremendous Welsh support at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night and hopes, one day, the Bluebirds will experience something similar.

There were 32,343 people in attendance to witness Wales’ crucial 1-1 draw with Belgium and Cardiff coaches Morison, Tom Ramasut and Mark Hudson were all there to witness it.

And while it might be fanciful at the minute to think that more than 32,000 Cardiff fans will rock up on a Saturday afternoon in the Championship, Morison hopes that, during his tenure, the stadium will be packed one day.

“Just over 32,000 were there (for Wales v Belgium). The noise, atmosphere,” Morison said of the Wales game.

“Me, Mark and Tom went and we thought, ‘God, it would be nice if we had Saturday afternoons like this!’

“That’s the plan. Can we have some days like that?

“Can we have the Blue Wall rather than the Red Wall every now and then?

“It was fantastic.”

Kieffer Moore was the Wales hero that day, of course, and Morison said his goal against the Belgians will only benefit Cardiff

City. From our point of view, looking at Kieffer, getting that goal will do him no end of good on top of the goals he had scored previously.

“I just can’t wait to have him back.”

Meanwhile Aaron Ramsey has penned a heartfelt tribute to former Cardiff City favourite Joe Ledley following his retirement from the game.

Ledley, 34, announced he would hang up his last week following a career that began in the Welsh capital and took him to Celtic, Crystal Palace, Derby County and Newport County.

He also earned 77 caps for his country. But his journey began during a tremendously exciting time for Cardiff City following the turn of the century, when a glut of talented, homegrown youngsters burst through on to the scene, Ledley and Ramsey included.

And Wales star Ramsey has paid homage to his good friend and former Bluebirds colleague.

“Joe! It’s been an honour playing along side you all these years from youngsters at Cardiff and all the international occasions,” Ramsey wrote on Instagram.

“Congratulations on a fantastic career and time to enjoy some time with the family and get that handicap lower.

“All the best Joe.”
