Star’s ‘won’t happen again’ vow

JOHN BARROWMAN has addressed sexual misconduct claims, during an appearance on ITV show Lorraine.

The 54-year-old was accused of repeatedly exposing himself on the sets of shows 15 years ago.

The entertainer was accused of flashing at the cast on Doctor Who and its spin-off Torchwood.

He played Captain Jack Harness in both series – which were shot in and around Cardiff, with Barrowman living in Sully at the time – and was a TV regular until 10 years ago.

Speaking when he appeared on the Lorraine show yesterday to address the claims, he said he would still be “outrageous, but in a different context”.

But he added that it would “not happen again”.

“Throughout my career and everything I have done has been about promoting people to be themselves, and to not be ashamed of who you are,” he told the presenter.

“At the moment, I feel like I have to monitor myself. I will get past that, I will still be silly, I will still be outrageous, but in a different context to what it was 15 years ago.

“It was 15 years ago, and I can’t change that. It is not going to happen again.”

He also told the presenter that leaving the Dancing on Ice judging panel was nothing to do with the claims, and that it was because he is to be a presenter on All Star Musicals instead.

“Dancing on Ice changes its judges all the time, and it was nothing to do with that [the claims] and ITV made that clear, which I am grateful for,” he said.

Viewers were intrigued by the strong Scottish accent he spoke with during yesterday’s apperance, as he normally has an American accent, while Lorraine asked him about dying his hair from grey back to black.

He said it was because he had been having auditions in America and the feedback had been that darker hair made him look younger.
