Shoppers out in force for Black Friday bargains

-

SHOPPERS were out in force in Cardiff yesterday seeking the traditional Black Friday deals, but while the capital was bustling, there were no long lines of people desperately trying to grab a bargain.

Storm Arwen may well have blown some shopping plans off course as the wild weather hit Wales yesterday. However, nearly all retailers in St David’s shopping centre in Cardiff did their best to attract footfall.

There were some queues to be seen but not every store was full to the brim as many shops offered deals throughout the whole weekend.

Easily the busiest and most popular store was the jewellery chain Pandora, that had a steady and consistent queue outside of it from when the store opened yesterday morning.

Offering a 20% discount, the store is known and loved for its popular Pandora bracelet and charms you can buy along with them.

The staff had prepared for the queues, setting up a queuing system outside the shop and handing out catalogues for people to look through while they waited.

The next busiest was Lush, the beauty and bathing store, just outside of St David’s centre on Queens Street.

This well-known brand is famous for its huge array of bath bombs and bubble bars, making it popular all year round.

Lush also prepared for the crowds, setting up areas for people to queue and displaying clear entrance and exit signs, and there was a queue outside Lush at most times during the afternoon.

At times the clothing brand North Face, on the upper floor of

St David’s, had a small queue however this was not consistent and seemed to move pretty quickly.

Staff had set up a designated queuing area outside the shop.

Yesterday morning, before opening, the retailer John Lewis and clothing and beauty brand Ted Baker both had queues, with John Lewis attracting quite a crowd around the entrance.

Once the shops opened the queues dispersed and there were no more queues outside these shops for the rest of the day.

Other popular shops such as clothing stores Zara and Primark were busy but did not have any queues and you could easily enter the stores.
