A performance to frustrate the fans

-

AS A lifelong City supporter and season ticket holder I must take issue with Morison’s comments about some City fans booing the team and certain players during and after the disappointing defeat to Hull on Wednesday evening.

Given the hype from Morison about collecting another three points and the anticipation of the fans following two good performances, the scene was set for an exciting match and something for the fans to shout about. Unfortunately the first half was so poor and played on the back foot with little intensity or real attacking intent that the fans were left understandably frustrated. Add into the mix the now predictable early goal for the opposition, we expected an onslaught in the second half. The lack of urgency and slow ponderous football played mainly across our back line led to groans from the crowd and further frustration.

The fact that some of the players seem to be going through the motions while others are playing their hearts out does not help the situation and one must question basic ability, attitude and passion for the club. We have always prided ourselves with our fitness, hard work and determination but sadly on Wednesday night many were off the pace, sluggish and seemingly unable to raise their game.

I watched with my granddaughter as the players warmed up and they were impressively smashing shots into the net. During the game we had one decent shot on goal and that was Ralls on his weaker foot.

The fans want to cheer on their players even in defeat but it was the manner of the performance that resulted in the fans’ disappointment and the new manager and the players should therefore take some responsibility for this reaction on the night.
