Manchester City moved to the top of the Premier League as Bernardo Silva scored twice in a 3-1 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road.

Silva struck twice either side of half-time to put the game beyond the Hornets.

The in-form Portugal star weaved past two defenders before slotting the ball past goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann to add to City’s advantage following Raheem Sterling’s opener.

The 27-year-old then followed up with a curled effort into the top corner for his side’s third.

Watford pulled one back through Cucho Hernandez.

Divock Origi’s stoppage-time winner gave Liverpool a 1-0 victory at Wolves.

Jurgen Klopp’s men had scored at least two goals in their previous 18 Premier League games.

But they were blunted for once by defiant Wolves hosts until substitute Origi fired in from close range in the fifth minute of time added on.

Chelsea were sent spinning to a second league defeat of the season as West Ham won 3-2 at the London Stadium.

Thomas Tuchel’s side led after 28 minutes when Thiago Silva met Mason Mount’s corner with a powerful header.

West Ham levelled when Blues keeper Edouard Mendy made a mess of collecting a Jorginho back pass and compounded his mistake by bringing down Jarrod Bowen.

Manuel Lanzini made no mistake from the penalty spot, but Chelsea were ahead again moments before half-time when Mount buried Hakim Ziyech’s crossfield pass with a first-time finish.

Bowen equalised 10 minutes into the second half when his well-struck shot went through the legs of Andreas Christensen and past an unsighted Mendy. And substitute Arthur Masuaku claimed a bizarre winner four minutes from time when his cross appeared to take a slight deflection to catch out Mendy at his near post and give the fourth-placed Hammers another major scalp after beating Liverpool at home last month.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick enjoyed a winning start to his tenure at Old Trafford as Manchester United claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Brazil midfielder Fred scored the only goal of the game in the 78th minute, curling a superb 20-yard shot beyond Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.

A stunning goal from Lucas Moura helped Tottenham remain unbeaten in the league under Antonio Conte as they beat Norwich 3-0.

Moura found the top corner from 25 yards to open the scoring, with Davinson Sanchez and Son Heungmin adding further goals in the second half.

Patrick Bamford scored a stoppage-time equaliser as Leeds rescued a point in a 2-2 draw against Brentford.

The Bees had struck twice in seven second-half minutes through Shandon Baptiste and Sergi Canos to turn the game on its head following Tyler Roberts’ opener.

Ezri Konsa scored twice as Aston Villa came from behind to beat Leicester City 2-1.

Villa fell behind to Harvey Barnes’ opener for the Foxes. However, defender Konsa touched home Emi Buendia’s header to equalise and nodded home a second-half corner to make it three wins from four since Steven Gerrard took charge.

Newcastle ended their wait for a league win at the 15th attempt as Burnley were beaten 1-0 at St James’ Park.

Callum Wilson claimed his sixth goal of the season five minutes before half-time to see off their fellow strugglers.

Neal Maupay rescued Brighton in a 1-1 draw at Southampton.

Maupay struck deep into stoppage time after Armando Broja’s smart finish had given Southampton a 29th-minute lead.
