Political campaign group’s billboard targets Braverman over ‘security’

-

A POLITICAL campaign group has installed a large billboard branding the UK Government Home Secretary a “national security threat”.

The image on the billboard shows Home Secretary Suella Braverman stood as if in a police line-up while holding a sign.

It has appeared on Glebe Road in Trethomas, near Caerphilly, and was created by Led by Donkeys. The group was set up in 2018 and first went viral in early 2019 after plastering politicians’ past statements, often initially around misinformation during the European referendum.

The billboard featuring Ms Braverman refers to a recent scandal whereby the Home Secretary was found to have sent official documents from her personal email while she was in position under Liz Truss. Ms Braverman resigned from her role as a result of the breach on October 19, only to be reinstated by new PM Rishi Sunak less than a week later.

Ms Braverman explained the security breach in a resignation letter addressed to the then-Prime Minister Liz Truss. She said: “Pretending we haven’t made mistakes, carrying on as if everyone can’t see that we have made them, and hoping that things will magically come right is not serious politics.”

On the date she was reinstated as Home Secretary, she told her twitter followers: “I am honoured to be appointed by the Prime Minister to serve as Home Secretary. We will work hard to control our borders, maintain our security and keep our streets safe.”

One billboard from Led by Donkeys also appeared in the town of Swindon in Wiltshire, showing a line of the five most recent prime ministers pictured on Downing Street with the caption: “Nothing changes.”
