The incident happened at around 10.20am in Brynbala Way.
A South Wales Police spokeswoman said: “Officers were carrying out enquiries at an address in Trowbridge, Cardiff, today as part of an ongoing investigation. Firearms officers were deployed as a precaution to ensure the safety of officers and the public.”
One man who was in the area told the Echo he heard police shouting towards a home on the street: “Come out.”
Around seven armed officers and two marked police cars were on the scene.
The witness said one officer was shielding behind a Volvo while training her gun on the house.
A person exited the property at around 10.24am but the witness did not see what happened after this. He said police had left the scene by 12.18pm. “I’m in shock,” he added.
“Seven armed police right outside a school. You think, ‘What on earth is going on here?’.
