WELSH PREM RUGBY

■ You won’t find Aberavon head coach Jason Hyatt panicking despite seeing his side lose their last two games in a row in the Indigo Premiership.

Have started with six successive bonus-point wins, the Wizards couldn’t have conjured up a better start. Now they have to get the show back on the road at Parc Eirias after a long trek north to Colwyn Bay to face RGC 1404 this afternoon.

Having seen reigning champions Cardiff overtake them at the top following their 45-0 romp against Swansea and move six points clear, Hyatt knows the margin for error is getting smaller with every week.

But he knows the Premiership like the back of his hand these days and refuses to let any panic set in on the back of defeats to Newport and Ebbw Vale.

“Obviously, we wanted to win every game, but we certainly aren’t disappointed at where we are. There are reasons behind why we lost,” said Hyatt.

A hat-trick of tries from electric wing Dewi Cross helped Cardiff solidify their position at the top of the Premiership table with a 45-0 thrashing of Swansea at the Arms Park.

Thursday was also a good night for Ebbw Vale who recorded a comprehensive 38-7 bonus-point win over Carmarthen Quins at Eugene Cross Park.
