Man arrested after report of attack in city park
POLICE are investigating reports of a sexual assault in a city centre park during the early hours of yesterday.
An area of Bute Park, Cardiff, near the Millennium Bridge, was cordoned off yesterday morning as investigations were carried out at the scene.
South Wales Police said the incident was reported to them at 6am, and a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Detective Inspector Abi Biddle said: “Detectives have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the incident and he remains in police custody.
“A scene is being held in the park and enquiries are continuing.”
An eye-witness walking through the park on Sunday morning said an area of around 50m had been taped off by police near to the bridge that links Sophia Gardens with Cardiff’s largest park.
