Trundle’s goals fail to rescue Ammanford

-

FORMER Swansea City star Lee Trundle scored twice for Ammanford, but couldn’t stop them falling to a 4-2 defeat at Trefelin in JD Cymru South.

Zac Brown gave the home side the lead at the end of the first half, before Trundle struck two minutes later.

Roan Piper made it 2-1 to Trefelin before Joe Clarke extended the lead. Trundle pulled another back before Damon Thomas rounded things off.

League leaders Barry Town United maintained their four-point lead at the top with a 2-1 win at Cambrian & Clydach Vale, while the game of the day was at Carmarthen where the home side went down 4-2 to Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Luke Bowen scored a hat-trick for the visitors with Tom Brock getting the other goal. Carmarthen led 2-1 at the break thanks to goals from Tom Dyson and Liam Thomas.

Taffs Well ended a four-match losing sequence with a much-needed 2-0 home win over Abergavenny Town. Jordan Carey opened the scoring in the ninth minute and made victory secure in the second half.

James Kirby hammered home a hat-trick in Colwyn Bay’s 4-0 home win over Holyhead Hotspur in JD Cymru North.

In what was probably his final game before leaving for a new job in Sweden, the 26-year-old took his goal tally for the Seagulls to 35 in just 40 games. Stef Edwards scored the other goal.

“Kirbs has been fantastic for us, and we are sad to see him go,” said Colwyn Bay boss Steve Evans.

Victory took Colwyn Bay three points clear at the top.

Josh Jones was Ruthin Town’s hero as they won 1-0 at Llandudno.

Cefn Druids beat Mold Alex 2-1.
