Edwards could lead Wales to glory

-

LAST week Shaun Edwards signed a four-year deal with the French Rugby Federation as their defence coach.

He was hoping for an offer of a post as head coach with England or anywhere but none was forthcoming.

Why not ask the French Federation if we can speak to Shaun?

Perhaps they would take an offer of £2m.

He said that his French was not good enough to be their head coach but that was his ambition – to be head coach of an international side.

I remember thanking him at the Vale of Glamorgan Health Club, at Hensol, for what he had done for Wales, just after he and Gatland had landed our first Grand Slam in years.

His terse response was the wonderful, “There’s a ******* lot to do yet”.

Shaun is only 56, knows the Wales set-up and is the man that Wales needs – and he would attract some of the best coaches in the world to work with him.

Get the national team right, and then we can get on with addressing the financial problems affecting every club in the land.
