Mum’s plea for missing son to return

-

A MOTHER has pleaded with her 13-year-old son and his schoolfriend to come home after going missing from his Merthyr Vale home.

Nixon Powell and his friend Nathan Winkler have not been seen since Thursday afternoon.

Nixon’s distraught mum Cherie believes he has taken a burgundy tent from home after going there after school.

The friends got off the train at Merthyr Vale train station and went to Cherie’s house nearby around 4pm, but have not been seen since.

The pair were caught on a Ring doorbell camera at around 3.24pm wearing their school uniforms.

As well as the tent, the family believe Nixon has also taken a pink and blue rucksack.

An emotional Cherie, who is desperate for news, says: “I am so worried. They are so young and have been out all night. I just want Nixon home with me. The response we have had from the local communities has been amazing.

“Complete strangers have been offering their help, and there are teams out looking for the boys across the area. I am so moved that so many people want to help.”

South Wales Police say they are aware of the missing persons report. Anyone with information about the boys should call the police on 101, quoting the reference number 2200397339.
