Man dead after early hours crash

A MAN has died and a woman is in a critical condition following a crash.

The incident happened at around 4.30am on Saturday, on the A473 between Llanharan and Talbot Green in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

The crash involved a red Audi A3 car and a heavy goods vehicle.

South Wales Police confirmed a man has died and a woman remains in a critical condition in hospital. Both were occupants of the Audi. A section of the road between Llanharan and Talbot Green Business Park was closed in both directions on Saturday.

South Wales Police is appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.

A force spokesman said: “At approximat­ely 4.30am on Saturday, November 26, a road traffic collision occurred on the A473 between Llanharan and Talbot Green Business Park.

“The collision, involving a red Audi A3 car and a heavy goods vehicle, happened on the section of road between the High Corner and the Diamond Centre of Wales.

“One man has died and one woman is in hospital in a critical condition.

“Both were occupants of the Audi.

Next of kin have been informed.

“The community is thanked for its patience while the road remains closed.

“South Wales Police is appealing for witnesses to the collision or those who have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision to make contact quoting occurrence 398960.”

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: “At 4.31am we were called to an head-on collision RTC near Llanharan.

“We attended with our HART specialist team, two ambulances, and an operationa­l manager.

“Two patients were conveyed to the University Hospital of Wales.”
