Purple Poppadom named best in Wales

A MUCH-LOVED Cardiff eaterie has been named the best curry restaurant in Wales.

The Purple Poppadom, in Canton, has been given the top spot for the second year in a row at the British Curry Awards, which are voted for by the public.

Purple Poppadom was founded in 2011 by chef director Anand George who serves a menu of refined Indian cooking with a focus on the region of Kerala, where he originally hails from.

Over the years Purple Poppadom has received multiple accolades including a listing in the Michelin guide, a rave review from Observer food critic Jay Rayner, and the Indian Restaurant of the Year title in the South Wales Echo Food and Drink Awards.

Writing on Instagram Purple Poppadom said: “We have just been named Best in Wales @ British Curry Awards! We are so happy. Thank you to each and every one of you for your support. PP Team.”
