MP wants fines for roadworks
A ConservAtive former minister has proposed increasing fines for overrunning roadworks in england and giving greater powers to local authorities to deal with the issue.
Mark Francois criticised some instances of roadworks where there is “a lack of any palpable sense of urgency whatsoever”. the tory MP for rayleigh and Wickford said his roadworks (regulation) Bill would “give local highways authorities much stronger powers to control the granting of permits to anyone who wants to dig up the highway network” by making it easier for them to refuse requests to undertake works.
