Showcase puts 40 of the best Welsh artists on display under one roof

AS the temperatures fall and the nights get longer, take shelter in Swansea’s Attic Gallery to see wide and varied work from more than 40 artists. The exhibition will also include five new artists to the gallery in a show that runs from Saturday, November 3, to Saturday, February 9.

Clive Gould worked with BBC Wales as head of graphic design until 1995, when he realised his dream of becoming a full-time artist.

His paintings verge on the photorealistic and he is inspired by his longheld passion for the sea and the magical elements which make up the rugged drama and stunning beauty of the Pembrokeshire coastline.

Pembrokeshire artist Alice Tennant has painted for “as long as she can remember” and her paintings reflect the changing weather on the land and sea.

Her bright, varied and highly imaginative palette create her unique style of work.

Sheridan Ward is an impressionist painter who has worked as an artist for over 20 years on both private and corporate commissions.

Her innovative painting techniques produce atmospheric and dramatic scenes and her impressionistic landscapes convey the beauty of light, shade, texture and form.

Lisa Wisdom is a Cornish artist whose palette is the naturally occurring shades of rust and the blues of copper.

Her work speaks of the hardship of industry, the scarring of the land and the waste left behind, also showing how nature creeps back in to form the beauty of the landscape.

Former teacher Emrys Parry, originally from the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales, has exhibited in Wales and East Anglia, and makes images which reflect his deep interest in the memories and history of the Welsh people.

New young artist Sarah Louise Davies will also be showing off her work. Sarah, originally from Swansea, recently completed her BA in fine art at Cardiff and has a selection of her hand-painted Christmas cards available at the gallery.
