Attacker mopped up his partner’s blood with top
PONTYPRIDD A man punched his girlfriend then tried to mop up her blood with his top as she screamed for help. Corey Mcdonald, aged 23, unleashed a vicious attack upon his former partner Lucinda Way near his home in Treforest, Pontypridd, on August 4. The couple had been at a party in Barry the night before but the defendant left after he became aggressive with someone. But when Ms Way found him the next day he told her to get out of a car before delivering a flurry of blows to her face. After the assault Mcdonald took his top off and started mopping up blood on the floor as Ms Way got to her knees. In his police interview Mcdonald denied assaulting Ms Way but claimed both of them were intoxicated and there had been some “pushing and shoving”. He later pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Mcdonald, of Ruler Way, was jailed for a year at Cardiff Crown Court yesterday and was made subject to a restraining order preventing him from contacting Ms Way.
